Mirja 's Train Journey experience

It was in 2011 , late afternoon one the way to home. I used to study in London and I live in Kent , work in Canterbury. It was Friday , class normally finish at 4;30pm. But on that day it finished at 4;45pm. So I normally have to start work from 6;00pm. And it takes exactly one hour to get in Canterbury from St Pancras International, That time was so bad that I had only £18.50 in total in my pocket.And the ticket costs £ 18.00 if you have network rail-card. So.So anyway I was so late and i went to the station and asked for the ticket because the ticket machine was not working properly.The man was standing with the machine besides the ticket barrier. I told him I have a network and I would like a ticket to go to Canterbury which is leaving in 5 minutes .He checked my network card and he said that expired .I told him that  it cant be ! It will expire 2 weeks later.I told him to swipe into the machine , so that it will read. He told me that he is clear seeing its expired . But it was not because you cant read actually , the date has vanished because i used  a lot.He told me it will  cost me £35 . I told him I don't have that money and in reply he told me to wait there.So i was shocked and so nervous and scared . I missed the train and another train will come 45 minutes later.I called to my workplace and explained the situation but they were not happy and they didn't buy the explanation. Anyway.Anyway  then I was thinking how I will be able to go home , I was sitting in the corner like a helpless guy . I was almost crying and praying .I was wishing someone can help me and asking god please do something .i have never been in this kind of situation before.So suddenly , a police officer came and asked me am I OK ?So I explained him everything and he took me the ticket office and told them swipe the card and it turned out I was right, I hugged him and said thank you very much for saving my life.The police officer told me if anything ever happened like this , don't sit silently and ask the police for help.I will never forget the police man and the situation. I always carry extra note and don't spend it unless if am in the situation like this and it comes handy.
